Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing front desk operations, ensuring a smooth patient experience, and providing essential administrative support in a medical office setting. This role requires strong communication skills, familiarity with medical terminology, and proficiency in various electronic health record (EHR) systems. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner. Manage patient scheduling, including appointments, follow-ups, and cancellations. Handle incoming calls on a multi-line phone system, addressing inquiries and directing calls appropriately. Collect and verify patient information, including insurance details and medical history. Process medical collections and assist with billing inquiries. Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review care plans and ensure proper coding using
ICD-9, ICD-10, CPT
coding, and other relevant coding systems. Assist with insurance verification and pre-authorizations as needed. Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and data entry using Microsoft Office applications. Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate patient care and administrative tasks. Requirements Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical administrative role is preferred. Familiarity with EHR systems eClinicalWorks is highly desirable. Knowledge of medical terminology, coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), billing processes, and insurance verification is essential. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients and staff. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply to enhance patient communication. Experience in clinic or hospital settings is a plus; dental office experience is also valued for specific roles. Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for accurate documentation review.
