Job Description
Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong background in medical administrative support, and a passion for providing outstanding patient service. As the first point of contact for patients, the Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and a welcoming environment. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality dental care while utilizing advanced office management systems and maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression. Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, coordinating multiple schedules efficiently. Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including insurance verification for dental and medical plans. Handle patient intake processes, including collecting accurate demographic and insurance information. Maintain and update patient records in electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Meditech, Epic, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Process payments, perform medical billing and coding using
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
codes, and ensure proper documentation review for billing accuracy. Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette while managing appointment confirmations and patient inquiries. Support clinic operations by managing filing systems, medical records, and administrative documentation review. Assist with insurance claims submission and follow-up to ensure timely reimbursement. Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth patient flow and care plans while maintaining high standards of customer service. Experience Prior experience working in a dental clinic or medical office environment is required; familiarity with dental terminology is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms like Meditech or Epic. Strong knowledge of medical billing procedures, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and insurance verification processes. Experience handling medical collection processes and Medicare billing is advantageous. Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), typing (10-key), and familiarity with health information management software like Athenahealth or Office Management systems. Bilingual abilities are considered a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Proven ability to manage clerical tasks efficiently while providing exceptional patient service in a fast-paced environment.
