We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Authorizations & Billing Liaison/Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team in a multi-functional role. This vital role involves managing insurance authorizations and submitting visit reports to our billing service ensuring accurate billing processes, along with assisting our front office team. The ideal candidate will possess strong medical office experience, excellent communication and multi-tasking skills, and a comprehensive understanding of medical terminology and billing practices. As part of our team, you will serve as a key point of contact for your fellow colleagues and doctors, insurance companies, healthcare providers, and our billing service, facilitating smooth operations and supporting quality patient care. Key Responsibilities Obtain prior authorizations from insurance providers to secure coverage for procedures and treatments, ensuring timely approval. Verify patient insurance benefits and eligibility using managed care systems to facilitate accurate billing and reduce claim denials. Coordinate with third-party billing service by preparing and submitting visit information to service to ensure precise reimbursement. Process and reconcile daily patient and insurance payments; prepare deposits. Manage in-house billing duties. Maintain detailed and organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Assist front office with incoming calls, appointment scheduling, check-in/out procedures, insurance verifications and general department coverage. Answering inquiries related to authorizations. Collaborate with medical staff to ensure proper documentation of medical records and coding accuracy for billing purposes. Provide medical records and clerical support. Collaborate with IT to ensure smooth function of computer operations. Support office operations by managing administrative tasks such as data entry, scanning, filing, and maintaining postage meter, along with other clerical tasks in a professional manner. Proven experience working in a medical office environment with knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures. Familiarity with managed care processes, insurance verification, and prior authorization protocols. Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security. Familiarity with medical coding including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards in order to liaison with billing service effectively. Knowledge of medical records management and documentation practices within healthcare settings. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with patients, insurance representatives, and healthcare providers. Excellent organizational skills and strong ability to multi-tasking and prioritize daily duties most effectively and efficiently. Prior ophthalmology practice experience is preferred. Knowledge of Epic and Nextech systems preferred. Ability to multitask efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment. Pay:
$24.00 - $26.00 per hour
