Job Description
Overview We are seeking a professional and organized Dental Receptionist to join our dental practice. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, managing appointments, patient records, and administrative tasks with efficiency and compassion. This role requires excellent communication skills, familiarity with dental and medical office systems, and a strong understanding of healthcare documentation and billing processes. The Dental Receptionist will play a vital role in ensuring smooth clinic operations and delivering exceptional patient service. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive patient experience. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software such as OpenDental or Softdent. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance authorization, and process insurance claims accurately. Collect payments, perform billing procedures, and manage medical collections with attention to detail. Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in EMR/EHR systems. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; handle intake forms and update patient information as needed. Assist with front desk duties including answering multi-line phone systems, managing appointment scheduling via medical office management software, and providing excellent patient service. Manage administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records. Support clinical staff by understanding dental terminology, CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, and documentation review processes related to care plans and medical billing. Perform other clerical duties such as faxing, copying, and managing office supplies to support daily clinic operations. Requirements Proven experience in a dental office or medical administrative support role; dental clinic experience is highly preferred. Familiarity with dental practice management software such as OpenDental or Softdent. Knowledge of dental terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), medical billing, insurance verification, and health information management practices. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel), multi-line phone systems, and typing (10 key). Excellent communication skills with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus. Ability to handle sensitive information in compliance with HIPAA regulations while providing exceptional customer service. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and accurate record keeping. Previous experience in healthcare or hospital settings is beneficial but not required; clinic or office management experience is preferred.
