UNIT SECRETARY
Vista Specialty Hospital Unit Secretary Summary:
Here at Vista Specialty Hospital our Unit Secretary provides clerical and administrative support to the clinical staff, leadership, patients and family members. The Unit Secretary is responsible for supporting and communicating the needs and the flow of the department. The Unit Secretary is an important part of our clinical team helping create a welcoming environment to patients and visitors.
Job Specific:
Performs clerical functions for the nursing unit. Answers the telephone, take messages and communicates to the appropriate person in a timely manner. Answer call lights and communicates messages to the appropriate person in a timely manner. Under direction of a nurse, schedules patient tests, procedures and activities. Prepares admission charts/records. Assembles charts for new admission with all appropriate forms, thins chart, labels chart with correct patient and physician information, and disassembles patient chart and sends chart to medical records after patient discharge. Accurately transcribes physician's orders. Processes patient discharge orders. Make copies of medical records for accepting facilities as required by policy. Orders supplies under direction of the nurse manager or charge nurse. Prepares and monitors current census by collaborating with the admissions department. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED.
Licenses/Certification:
BLS required
Experience:
Minimum one year's experience in a healthcare setting. Computer and software applications used in job functions. Previous experience in a medical facility or practice. Knowledge of medical terminology. Safety Sensitive-Designated Position
