Full Job Description Job Summary :
The front office/receptionist provides non-clinical care, under supervision, for practice site patients. Prepares patients to be evaluated by the physicians/other healthcare providers facilitating procedures and paperwork as needed. Prepares patients to be discharged (checked out) in an efficient manner. This position must consistently demonstrate professional skills and abilities, while using his/her knowledge base and skills to promote patient care. Must be able to function in a high-energy environment while providing a high-level of customer service; exercise initiative in both problem solving and decision-making.
Educational Requirements:
AA/BS degree preferred, minimum High School Graduate California Certification Medical Assistant or equivalent experience Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Appointments Arranges office appointments over the telephone, informing patients of office policies regarding authorizations and medical records, giving instructions for treadmill tests Obtains insurance authorizations Schedules/reschedules patient appointments Ensures that all patients that are scheduled for appointments with the practice have appropriate authorizations, insurance verifications and required forms and tests for their scheduled appointment Arranges for follow up appointments, if needed, as patients are checking out or checking in Cancels appointments - as needed Coordinates and schedules follow-up appointments, office testing, assists with scheduling of diagnostics testing and hospitals procedures as necessary Provides written instructions as needed Processes canceled appointments or reschedules as appropriate Obtains insurance/billing documentation, prepares fee tickets, collects and processes co-pay, patient outstanding balances as appropriate Coordinates appointments with other offices Confirms current and next day's appointments via telephone — as needed Reviews daily schedule and charts to ensure that patients are scheduled for the correct procedures Assistants walk-in patients with appointments or medications as needed Schedules all non-invasive tests with affiliated hospitals
