Job Description

Medical Receptionist:
This individual is responsible for providing outstanding patient services while maintaining patient flow and communication regarding patient appointment status. Opportunity to join a 6 doctor, 16 employee staff with wonderful esprit de corps.
Education and Experience:
1. High school diploma. 2. Fluency in English, bilingual preferred but not required 3. 1 year experience in medical office 4. Excellent spelling ability.

Team-orientated 6. Management of multiple projects simultaneously. 7. Strong organization with attention to detail. 8. Computer literacy.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Scheduling appointments related to comprehensive and intermediate ocular examinations, surgeries, and consultations 2. Pulling, sorting, and organizing patient charts 3. Checking in patients ensuring patient demographics and required documents are up-to-date 4. Educating patients on insurance copays, deductibles, and benefits 5. Responding to faxes, emails, and phone calls in a timely manner 6. Preparing for the next day appointments by pulling charts, confirming appointment times, and printing superbills. 7. Collecting copayments and balance due for surgeries, contact lens purchases, and other services rendered. 8. Making sure contact lens orders are ready for patients to pick up, to deliver to patients, or for patient examinations 9. Ensure tidy and fully stocked office space 10. Some cleaning duties including restroom spot cleans and taking out the garbage bins 11. Other administrative tasks assigned by the doctors when appropriate, including but not limited to preparing packaging items for Fed-Ex or other delivery services, ordering supplies, preparing educational packets for patients, etc. 12. Learning the personality and preferences of each physician, recognizing differences and abiding by them when working with that particular physician. 13. Accommodates the needs of the patient for the exam: a. Monitors examination room and any physical limitations the patient may have. b. Makes sure the patient chair is down before the patient prepares to leave, the equipment is off, the slit lamp is out of the way, etc. c. Provides patient with cane, handbag, coat, etc. to expedite patient flow. d. Evaluates the condition of the examination room to ensure adequate supplies are in stock. e. Notifies physician of changes to the daily schedule, especially emergencies. f. Performs other tasks as required. 14. Possibility to learn and transition to Ophthalmic Technician with growth in responsibilities and pay.
PHYSICAL ABILIITES
1. Must be able to walk and stand for eight hours. 2. Must be able to type or write legibly in a dimly-lit setting. 3. Must be able to hear softly spoken words.
