Job Description

Well-established private Santa Monica dental office seeking a dental receptionist for a part-time position working Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. At least 3 years of dental experience required. Our office has been providing general, cosmetic and pediatric dentistry in Santa Monica for the past 50 years. Please submit your resume if you are interested in joining our team. You will manage appointment scheduling, handle patient inquiries, verify insurance coverage, and ensure smooth administrative operations. Your proactive approach and excellent communication skills will help foster a friendly, efficient environment where patients feel cared for and valued. Duties Greet patients warmly and provide exceptional front desk customer service Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft Verify insurance benefits and eligibility using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth; process insurance claims accurately Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, including collecting co-pays and updating medical records Maintain accurate documentation review of patient records, treatment plans, and billing information Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, ensuring prompt response to inquiries and appointment requests Assist with medical collection processes, billing procedures, and coding tasks including
CPT, ICD-9/10
coding for dental procedures Organize filing systems for dental records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for health information management Support clinic operations by coordinating medical scheduling, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient intake forms Requirements Proven experience in a dental or medical office environment with strong clerical skills Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding, CPT coding, and health information management systems Familiarity with dental practice management software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft; experience with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic or Meditech is highly desirable Ability to navigate insurance verification platforms such as Athenahealth or eClinicalWorks efficiently Excellent phone etiquette, typing skills (including 10-key), and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in documentation review and filing processes Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively Prior clinic experience or hospital experience is advantageous but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards and medical billing practices is essential Demonstrated ability to provide outstanding patient service while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment This role is perfect for motivated individuals eager to grow their career in healthcare administration.
