Front Office Coordinator Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00
PM Setting:
Oncology Practice Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and reliable Front Office Coordinator to join a busy oncology practice. This individual will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring an exceptional patient experience while supporting daily front office operations. The ideal candidate has prior medical front office experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Responsibilities Patient Registration & Customer Service Greet patients and visitors in a friendly, professional, and empathetic manner. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes, including verifying demographics, insurance, and required documentation. Assist patients with questions and provide guidance throughout the clinic. Scheduling & Coordination Schedule new patient consultations, follow-up visits, infusion appointments, lab appointments, imaging, and referrals. Coordinate with providers, nurses, and medical assistants to ensure efficient clinic flow. Monitor provider schedules and accommodate appointment changes, cancellations, and urgent patient needs. Insurance & Financial Responsibilities Verify insurance eligibility and benefits prior to appointments. Collect co-pays, deductibles, and outstanding patient balances. Communicate financial responsibilities to patients and escalate complex cases to financial counselors as needed. Administrative Support Answer high-volume phone lines and route calls appropriately. Maintain accurate patient records, scan documents, and ensure HIPAA compliance. Assist with referrals, prior authorization paperwork, medical records requests, and other administrative functions. Support oncology-specific workflows including pathology intake and infusion coordination. Qualifications Required 2+ years of experience in a medical front office, patient access, or healthcare receptionist role. Strong customer service and communication skills. Experience with insurance verification and patient registration. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment. Preferred Experience with
EPIC EMR.
