Job Description

Overview Join a dynamic healthcare environment as a Medical Receptionist, where your energetic and organized approach will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. In this vital role, you will manage front desk operations, coordinate patient appointments, handle medical records, and ensure smooth communication between patients and healthcare providers. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing multi-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy. Schedule patient appointments accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks, maintaining optimal clinic flow. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and process payments or collections related to medical billing and CPT coding procedures. Maintain and update patient records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper documentation review for accuracy. Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information, updating medical histories, and explaining clinic policies. Manage medical office tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and organizing medical records efficiently using systems like Dentrix or Eaglesoft. Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans, reviewing documentation, and facilitating communication between providers and patients. Skills Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing processes. Experience working with EMR/EHR systems or willingness to learn Familiarity with insurance verification procedures including Medicare and other payers. Excellent phone etiquette with the ability to handle complex scheduling and patient inquiries confidently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with strong typing skills (including 10 key typing). Prior clinic office experience is preferred; Demonstrated ability to manage administrative tasks efficiently while maintaining a friendly and professional demeanor. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards for health information management and documentation review processes.
