Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a wide range of administrative and clerical duties. Your energetic approach will help create a welcoming environment, streamline clinic operations, and ensure accurate documentation and communication across various electronic health record (EHR) systems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality patient care through efficient scheduling, insurance verification, and medical administrative support. Duties Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes with accuracy and efficiency using EHR systems such as Office Ally. Schedule appointments, coordinate follow-up visits, and manage clinic calendars to optimize provider availability. Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and other third-party payers, ensuring proper authorization for procedures. Conduct insurance verification and billing processes, including medical collection activities when necessary. Handle 2 line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to answer inquiries, schedule appointments, and relay messages promptly. Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents correctly and reviewing documentation for completeness and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information, updating medical histories, and explaining clinic policies. Ensure compliance with health information management standards while safeguarding patient confidentiality at all times. Perform other administrative duties as assigned to support the overall efficiency of the practice. Experience Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is highly preferred. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Office Ally. Experience in insurance verification (a PLUS). Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette are necessary for success in this role. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) along with familiarity with health information management software are important assets. Previous clerical or administrative experience in a healthcare environment will help you excel in managing front desk operations efficiently.
