Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist/Customer Service Representative, where your energy and dedication will help create a welcoming and efficient environment for patients and staff alike. In this vital role, you will be the first point of contact, managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and maintaining accurate medical records. Your proactive approach and excellent communication skills will ensure smooth clinic operations and exceptional patient service. This position offers an engaging opportunity to contribute to quality healthcare delivery. Responsible for fielding phone calls, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, as well as other non-clinical duties as instructed. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, answer multi-line phone systems, and provide outstanding customer service with professional phone etiquette. Represents physicians and ambulatory surgery center by screening incoming telephone calls; recording and transmitting messages; scheduling appointments. Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) system, AthenaOne. Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle billing inquiries with accuracy and attention to detail. Completes check-in and/or check-out functions according to established protocols. Manage patient intake by updating demographic information, and reviewing documentation for completeness. Maintain organized medical records, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper documentation review procedures. Maintains patient confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Serves and protects the health care community by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements, and AAAHC and AHCA . Enhances the surgical center's reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor or administrator. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office or ambulatory surgery center setting. HIgh School diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information management best practices Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment Exceptional communication skills with a friendly demeanor and professional office presence. We value energetic team players who are detail-oriented and committed to delivering top-tier patient service. AthenaOne experience preferred, but not required. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ability to easily communicate with patients; recording accurate messages and relaying orders clearly to patients. Requires adherence to all policies and procedures, including but not limited to standards for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance. Physical Requirements:
Hearing:
Adequate to perform job duties in person and over the telephone.
Speaking:
Must be able to communicate clearly to patients in person and over the telephone.
Vision:
Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, specifically reading information from printed sources and computer screens.
Other:
Requires infrequent lifting and carrying items weighing up to 30 pounds unassisted. Requires assisting patients in to their vehicle following their procedures that are performed with anesthesia . Adequate physical ability including sufficient manual dexterity. Requires frequent bending, reaching, repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting.
Pay:
$17.50 - $20.00 per hour
