Job Description

Aloha Nursing Rehab Centre is a long term care facility in Kaneohe that operates 24 hours a day/7 days a week. We offer diverse opportunities for those interested in using their skills and experience to serve our residents and to make a difference in the lives of others by providing compassionate, quality care. We are looking for an organized Unit Secretary to assist with clerical tasks in our Skilled Nursing & Long Term Care facility. The Unit Secretary focuses on supporting the Nursing Department with directing phone calls, coordinating resident appointments & transportation and maintaining other clerical responsibilities while providing customer service to residents, family members and visitors. If you have excellent interpersonal and administrative skills, can multitask and manage your time effectively in a fast paced setting, we want you to join our team!

Full Time - Monday through Friday;
REQUIRED
to work Holiday rotation schedule Benefits include: (after completion of the 90-day probationary period): Free employee meals Free employee parking on-site Employer paid Medical/dental/RX/Vision (individual plan) Paid hours off (vacation & sick) Paid holidays Duties of the Unit Secretary include, but are not limited to: Receiving and responding to telephone calls in a professional manner, communicates messages in a timely manner to nurses and responsible party. Informs licensed staff of laboratory/radiology reports. Files laboratory/radiology reports appropriately in the residents' charts after medical personnel have reviewed/dated/initialed documents. Arranges for physicians, consultation, dialysis, dental, and other appointments. Arranges transportation as needed while preparing the necessary paperwork. Records information in the resident appointment binder and informs the nurse of incoming orders. Maintains the transportation log. Prepares envelope with appointment and transportation information and necessary papers. (Face sheet, most recent physician's order sheets and doctor's progress notes, consult notes if applicable). Obtains stock supplies from basement for both the storage and medication rooms. Monitors and assists with call lights to ensure residents' safety. Qualifications for Unit Secretary High school diploma or equivalent degree is required One (1) year of experience as a ward clerk, medical assistant or Certified Nurse Aide experience desired. Exceptional knowledge of medical terminology and medical facility processes Experience scheduling patient appointments in accordance with doctor's availability and providing the patient with instructions prior to procedures One (1) year experience or training in office skills, including word processing and knowledge of Microsoft Office programs Work & Excel software required. Ability to effectively work within medical record software and update files accurately Experience working in data entry software and maintaining detailed information regarding available stock and supplies Experience maintaining a professional level of patient privacy in accordance with HIPAA procedures Ability to interact well with residents who have behavioral problems or dementia, staff, medical personnel, and visitors.
