Job Description

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized, friendly, and dependable Medical Receptionist to join our busy family practice. The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients and play a key role in delivering excellent customer service while ensuring efficient front office operations. This position requires the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and attention to detail. Experience with medical billing and insurance processes is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Greet and check in patients in a courteous and professional manner Answer incoming phone calls, respond to inquiries, and route messages appropriately Schedule, confirm, and manage patient appointments Verify patient demographics, insurance eligibility, and benefits Collect copays, balances, and process patient payments Assist with basic billing functions including claim follow-up, payment posting, and addressing patient billing questions Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system Handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, including faxes and emails Assist with patient flow to ensure timely appointments Communicate effectively with providers and clinical staff Manage front desk tasks such as scanning, filing, and data entry Follow HIPAA guidelines to maintain patient confidentiality
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required Previous experience in a medical office required Medical billing experience strongly preferred Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance verification, and basic billing processes Proficiency in EMR systems and basic computer skills Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Work Environment:
Fast-paced family practice setting Frequent interaction with patients, providers, and staff Requires sitting, standing, and use of computers for extended periods
