UNIT SECRETARY
McDonough District Hospital •
EMERGENCY ROOM
Mb, IL Administrative/Clerical Full-Time Hourly , Days, 0900-2100 Posted 06/02/2026 Req # 2107 Expected pay for this position is $17.87-$25.02. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The Unit Secretary must successfullyplete the Unit Secretary Orientation program at McDonough District Hospital. Required to be currently licensed as a Certified Nurse Assistant or an EMT-B in the state of Illinois. Required toplete cardiac telemetry monitoring class. Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions. Current CPR and CPI certification required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE
Is knowledgeable regarding policies and procedures, PPE's universal precautions, duties listed in the disaster manuals and SDS sheets. The patient populations must be considered when assessing job knowledge required from the employee.
ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS
Must have the ability to deal with the public in a positive way. Verbal ability is needed tomunicate with caregivers, patients and family members. Numerical ability is needed to enter physician's orders. Clerical perception is needed to maintain records. Finger dexterity is needed to work with theputers and typewriters. The ability to follow through with instructions. Ability to read and write toplete documents. Ability to critical thinking skills to assess a situation and summon appropriate help when needed. A preference for the use of processes and techniques is necessary to follow policies and procedures to ensure standards of care. Ability to adapt and prioritize during emergency situations. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).
