Job Summary Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics is seeking a full-time professional, friendly, customer-focused and dependable DME associate to join our busy Durable Medical Equipment (DME) team located in Carmel, IN. This position serves in a critical support role and is responsible for a wide variety of administrative duties. Essential Functions Provide a warm, professional greeting to patients and visitors while delivering high-quality customer service and consistently represent the organization in a professional and positive manner Respond to patient inquiries and address a wide range of customer service needs Contact patients to confirm equipment needs for scheduled surgical procedures Review patient equipment prescriptions and submit for pre-certification as needed Process and reconcile patient payments, including accurate collection of co-insurance and preparation of daily batches Accurately enter charges and equipment usage into practice management systems Maintain inventory control and organization of DME retail items Manage inbound and outbound patient and clinic phone calls Manage incoming and outgoing fax communications Ensure clean, organized, and well-stocked store front Maintain excellent working relationship with all physicians, clinic staff, leadership, and patients Other administrative duties as assigned Competencies (Knowledge/Skills/Abilities) Excellent customer service skills Ability to multitask effectively Highly organized Able and willing to handle high patient care volume on a daily basis Supervisory responsibilities - None Work environment This position is performed in a typical, professional medical office setting Physical demands Continuous walking, standing, speaking, listening, computer use, phone use Occasional sitting, lifting up to 50 pounds Travel required Some local travel may be required to various Forté locations in the Indianapolis area for coverage as needed
Education and Qualification Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent, required; Associates degree in healthcare related field, preferred Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting required Must consistently demonstrate excellent customer services skills, be detail oriented, and be highly organized Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, time management, resourcefulness and the ability to multi-task Must be adept in technology with a thorough understanding of computer software, medical billing or practice management software is a plus Ability to work Monday-Friday schedule from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, including closing shifts two to three days per week and participating in a rotating Saturday morning schedule Forté Sports Medicine and Orthopedics is an equal opportunity employer and drug free workplace.
