Facility Cape Fear Valley Medical Center Location Fayetteville, North Carolina Department 6 VP Job Family Nursing Support Work Shift Days (United States of America) Summary Provide clerical services to maximize the functioning of the unit. Maintain responsibility for telemetry emergency phone. Major Job Functions The following is a summary of the major essential functions of this job. The incumbent may perform other duties, both major and minor, that are not mentioned below. In addition, specific functions may change from time to time: Greet patients upon admission by introducing themselves and welcoming patient to the unit Introduce self to patients daily with face-to-face contact Identify the patient by using name and date of birth to include checking medical records that accompany the patient and patient armband Act as receptionist and greets hospital staff and visitors Initiate, receive, and deliver telephone messages related to unit activities Maintain patients' charts on assigned units Order and maintain adequate supply levels on unit Assume responsibility for answering the telemetry emergency phone and pass responsibility if leaving the desk Files telemetry strips in a timely manner in the location predetermined by the floor Set up assignments in Responder system, answers call lights, and sets services as necessary Demonstrates responsibility concerning customer satisfaction, patient throughput, and hospital capacity Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications The following qualifications, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this job:
Education and Formal Training:
High school diploma or equivalent required Completion of medical terminology course preferred
Work Experience:
1 year Medical Assistant or Nursing Assistant experience preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking the English language
Physical Requirements:
