Job Description

My Kidney Center, LLC has an immediate opening for a Medical Receptionist who is customer-focused and detail-oriented. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong communication abilities are essential, as the Medical Receptionist will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, requiring a warm and professional demeanor. Proficiency in using the electronic health record (EHR) system is vital, along with a thorough understanding of insurance protocols and patient confidentiality standards. Commitment to providing high-quality customer service and fostering a positive atmosphere is paramount. The working hours for this position are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • This role requires support in satellite clinics located in Junction City, Clay Center, Council Grove, Wamego, and Marysville.
Position Description:
The Medical Receptionist will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the clinic by efficiently managing front desk activities and facilitating communication between patients and medical staff. This position requires a proactive individual who can quickly adapt to varying tasks and maintain a high level of accuracy and professionalism. Additionally, the Medical Receptionist must possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and office procedures to effectively support the healthcare team.
Primary Responsibilities and Behaviors:
  • Demonstrate respect for patients and My Kidney Center, LLC staff by always presenting a professional and courteous manner and maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Provide attention to patients in a manner that fosters confidence, trust, and loyalty.
  • Schedule appointments and triage appointment requests for urgency according to approved protocols and consistent with My Kidney Center, LLC Guidelines. Consult a licensed clinician for clinical decision making whenever necessary.
  • Use all applicable functionality in the EHR to take messages and communicate with clinicians.
  • Greet patients and conduct check-in process: Load or update insurance information as needed; Scan insurance card(s); Post payments received in practice management system and provide system generated receipts.
  • Collect co-payments and outstanding balances.
  • Manage accounts payable/receivable and ensure timely payments/billing.
  • Verify eligibility and manage appointments accordingly.
  • Gather and confirm demographic information, including essential demographic fields.
  • Compile fundamental financial reports, such as income statements and balance sheets
  • Assign codes to diagnoses, procedures, and treatments with precision.
  • Verify the accuracy and completeness of coded data.
  • Monitor daily reminder call logs. Conduct outreach to patients requiring appointments (reschedule patients who cancel and call patients whose appointments were not successfully confirmed). Contact patients who "no show" for follow-up appointments for chronic conditions or preventative care.
  • Make outreach calls to patients to schedule new appointments or required follow-up visits.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments with other specialists, lab, radiology, etc., on behalf of patients.
  • Scan and index documents into the EHR; ensure that necessary documents, lab results, etc., are available in advance of patient visits.
  • Assist coworkers as needed to ensure smooth office operation and delivery of service through teamwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of reception experience, preferably in a health care setting.
  • Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel and Word; experience with Practice Fusion an electronic health record is preferred.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated customer service skills
