Receptionist-Medical Interpreter, Norton Children's Medical Group Cardiology, Days Norton Healthcare United States, Kentucky, Louisville 6420 Dutchmans Parkway (Show on map) Jun 08, 2026 Responsibilities The Receptionist-Medical Interpreter serves as the liaison between the physician and patient. The incumbent answers the telephone, determines the nature of incoming calls, schedules appointments, routes calls, and takes appropriate messages. This positions pulls charts for messages, greets patients and family members, obtains registration and insurance data, updates information in the billing system, and facilitates patient flow into the practice. This job has responsibilities for charge entry, referrals and pre-certifications, as well as scheduling of specialist appointments and diagnostic tests. The incumbent attends to patients utilizing the age-appropriate principles of growth and development for patients of all ages according to the practice specialty. The Receptionist-Medical Interpreter facilitates the exchange of communication between a patient and a provider as verbatim as possible, in consideration of cultural practices, context, slang, and linguistic variation. The Receptionist-Medical Interpreter may also inform the physician when a patient does not appear to demonstrate comprehension.
Qualifications Required:
Three years of medical interpreting experience in a healthcare setting. Must have successfully completed a Medical Interpreter Program.
