Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and organized Dental Receptionist to join our vibrant dental team! In this essential role, you will be the welcoming face of our practice, responsible for managing patient interactions, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and maintaining accurate medical and dental records. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will ensure a smooth patient experience from check-in to check-out. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, creating a friendly and efficient front desk environment. Schedule patient appointments accurately using dental practice management software such as Open Dental . Verify insurance coverage, benefits, and eligibility using systems like Dental XChange ensuring all information is current and correct. Collect payments, process medical and dental billing, and manage collections with proficiency in medical billing procedures. Maintain comprehensive and organized patient records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as eClinicalWorks or Meditech, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times. Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages when necessary. Review documentation for accuracy, including intake forms, treatment plans, and insurance claims, ensuring compliance with CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding standards, and Medicare requirements. Assist in insurance verification processes and follow up on outstanding claims or payments to optimize revenue flow. Manage office supplies, filing systems, and medical records with meticulous attention to detail. Support the dental team with administrative tasks such as preparing care plans, updating patient information, and coordinating appointment reminders. Demonstrate proficiency in dental terminology and medical terminology to facilitate clear communication within the team. Utilize computer skills across various platforms including Microsoft Office Suite for documentation review and reporting purposes. Provide exceptional patient service by addressing inquiries promptly and professionally while maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist within a clinical or dental office setting. Strong knowledge of medical collection procedures, insurance verification processes, and billing practices. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Dentrix; experience with Open Dental is highly desirable. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to health information management and patient privacy. Ability to perform CPT coding along with ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9) for accurate documentation review and billing purposes. Experience working with insurance providers like Medicare; understanding of care plans is a plus. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Bilingual abilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Strong clerical skills including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and document management. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel for administrative support tasks. Exceptional customer service skills coupled with professional phone etiquette and effective communication abilities. Previous clinic or dental office experience is highly valued; familiarity with dental terminology is advantageous.
