Job Description:
Job Requirements Coordinates communications, recordkeeping, and administrative activities within a patient care unit, including access to and transport of medications between storage and delivery areas.
Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Responsibilities Provide customer-oriented reception and information service for patients, visitors, and care providers; maintain professional appearance and communication at all times. Maintain the integrity, completeness, and confidentiality of patient records, including compilation at discharge/transfer per Medical Records standards. Use automated and EMR systems to enter and manage clinical information, orders, requisitions, and reports; support A/D/T notifications, order monitoring, label management, and downtime coverage. Coordinate patient appointments, transportation, and routing of requests to appropriate staff. Manage movement of supplies, equipment, specimens, and materials to/from the unit; order, receive, and distribute mail, supplies, and online forms. Provide general clerical support including typing, filing, photocopying, and census reconciliation. Maintain order and appearance of public areas; notify and follow up with support services on housekeeping or facilities issues. Work Experience Education & Experience High School diploma or equivalency (GED). A minimum of six months general office experience. Experience in a patient care or service setting is preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to perform duties of a clerical nature, including filing, photocopying and basic keyboard skills. Ability to use computer systems in order to access and manage patient data. Ability to demonstrate courteous phone etiquette. Ability to organize work priorities, perform several duties simultaneously, and function in stressful situations. Highly effective communication and interpersonal relationship skills are required to effectively interact with patients, families, nurses and other staff. Patient Safety Ensures patient safety in the performance of job functions and through participation in hospital, department or unit patient safety initiatives. Takes action to correct observed risks to patient safety. Reports adverse events and near misses to appropriate management authority. Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
