Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Office Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, exceptional patient service abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of dental office operations. This role is vital in ensuring smooth daily clinic functions, managing patient interactions, and supporting clinical staff with administrative tasks. The Dental Office Receptionist will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing a welcoming environment while efficiently handling scheduling, insurance verification, and medical records management. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, establishing a positive first impression for the clinic. Manage appointment scheduling using dental practice management software such as Carestream dental, coordinating multiple calendars effectively. Verify insurance coverage and benefits, including Medicare and Medicaid, ensuring accurate billing and documentation review. Handle patient intake processes, including collecting medical history and updating health records. Assist with insurance claims processing, dental billing, and collection efforts while maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Maintain accurate and organized dental records, ensuring proper filing of medical records and documentation review for completeness. Answer multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, addressing patient inquiries promptly and courteously. Support front desk operations by performing clerical duties such as data entry, typing, filing, and managing office supplies. Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate care plans and ensure seamless communication between patients and providers. Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA guidelines while managing sensitive health information. Skills Extensive experience with dental office management software including Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Carestream Dental. Proficiency in health record systems. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, CPT coding, and dental billing procedures. Ability to perform insurance verification accurately and efficiently; experience with Medicaid is advantageous. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and interpersonal communication abilities. Bilingual capabilities are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Demonstrated clerical experience within a healthcare or dental setting; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail for documentation review and filing processes. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy and data security at all times. Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
