Schedules patient appointments and resolves scheduling conflicts. Notifies patients of change/cancellations and prioritizes urgency of appointments for rescheduling. Updates patient information and verifies insurance information. Ensures a smooth and timely registration process while providing excellent customer service at all times. Verifies and collects all co-pays and payments made by the patient or their representative. Develops knowledge of all insurances and co-pays while working with the Patient Accounts department to keep current. Promptly answers incoming calls and directs all calls to the appropriate area. Acts as liaison between physician, patients and staff. Is involved in developing safe work practices and is held accountable for the day to day efforts of ensuring a safe workplace by following safe work practices. Registers patients and/or responsible party in a timely, accurate and efficient manner. Obtains required admission information such as patient insurance/ financial information, demographics and ensures that a medical record is created. Promotes accurate billing information and identifies fraudulent use of insurance or patient identification Obtains signatures for treatment, release of information, statement of permit to direct payment and release of responsibility from the patient after a brief explanation of the same. Witness's patients consent. Actively collects payments, co-pays and deductible amounts, enters in cash drawer and prints receipts for all monies collected, including, balances cash drawer and records cash drawer at appropriate times. Schedules patients appointments and resolves scheduling conflicts. Notifies patients of change/cancellations and prioritizes urgency of appointments for rescheduling. Updates patient information and verifies insurance information. Answers incoming calls promptly in a courteous and professional manner and handles inquires, creates tasks completely and accurately and queue medications as needed. Refers patients to physician or MA if unable to satisfy patient needs/answer questions. Demonstrates competency in EHR and computer software applications as required for the position especially scheduling and registration. Uses e-mail and telephone to communicate with staff, clinic schedule changes and to keep Practice Supervisor appraised of problems/concerns in the Rural Health Clinic. Maintains awareness of hospital systems and policies. Ongoing knowledge of rural health care (rhc)rules & regulations and rhc policies. Performs other related duties as assigned by Medical Providers, Supervisor and Director. BLS required within 90 days of hire and maintained throughout employment. High school graduate. Previous experience in a medical setting. Minimum of one (1) year experience
