Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Surgical Scheduler to serve as a vital backup Receptionist and Medical Assistant when needed. This dynamic role involves coordinating patient appointments, managing surgical schedules, and providing exceptional front desk service. The ideal candidate will be energetic, organized, and possess strong communication skills to ensure seamless operations and outstanding patient care. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a small, private GYN office while honing your skills in medical administration and scheduling. Responsibilities Assist with surgical scheduling, ensuring accurate appointment times and resource allocation in compliance with provider availability and patient needs Serve as backup receptionist, greeting patients warmly, answering multi-line phone systems, and directing calls efficiently Verify patient insurance coverage and perform insurance verification using availity & various insurance platforms Manage electronic health records (EHR) systems including eClinicalWorks Review documentation for completeness and accuracy, including medical history, consent forms, and prior authorization requests Support medical billing processes by understanding CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare guidelines to facilitate accurate claim submissions Maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations while handling sensitive patient information and medical records Assist with office management tasks such as filing, data entry, appointment reminders, and managing multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care plans and ensure smooth patient flow throughout the cliniic Standby and assist the doctor in minor GYN procedures and exams when needed Experience Prior experience in a GYN office or clinic setting is highly preferred Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as eClinicalWorks Strong knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and insurance verification processes Excellent computer skills including Google & Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with health information management software Experience with front desk operations, medical scheduling, intake procedures, and office management is highly desirable Ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment Join our team to make a meaningful impact on patient care through efficient scheduling and administrative excellence!
