phckids.com Job Summary Under the direction of the Manager of HR and Operations and the Front Desk lead, and in accordance with practice procedures, the Medical Receptionist performs all aspects of patient scheduling, registration, and payment collection.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Reports to work on time as scheduled. Performs all aspects of appointment scheduling including: Makes appointments for patients accurately and efficiently, according to clinic protocols. Assists patients with any scheduling concerns. Returns patient calls if unable to make appointment at the time of the patient interaction. Reschedules appointments as necessary. Follows policy for "no shows" and late patients, per clinic protocol. Informs patients of required forms, identification, arrival times and other necessary information. Scans the following documents into the Electronic Medical Record as required: Photo IDs and insurance cards HIPAA forms, Consent forms Financial responsibility forms Guardianship and/or adoption papers Communicates effectively with patients, parents, caregivers, coworkers, and providers regarding patient scheduling issues as needed. Collects all necessary data to appropriately register and schedule patients: Verifies and updates patient demographics. Properly verifies and updates patient emergency contact. Properly verifies and updates patient insurance coverage. Performs all aspects of payment collection and cash handling including, but not limited to: Handling cash according to practice protocol. Collects copayments and outstanding balances in accordance with practice policies and procedures. Balances and reconciles cash drawer and credit card payments Assists patients with billing problems or inquiries. Performs all additional extra duty assignments and miscellaneous tasks and projects as assigned. Required Education and Experience H.S. Diploma or G.E.D., required Basic computer skills are required. Preferred Education and Experience Some college preferred. Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred. Previous experience working with multi-line phone is preferred. Previous experience with Electronic Medical Records is preferred. Competencies Strong interpersonal skills. Able to successfully type and work. Committed to team members.
