Full-time Summary/Objective:
The Medical Receptionist at Cleaver Dermatology greets all visitors and ensures a positive experience. Daily duties consist of supporting patients through check-in, check-out, scheduling appointments, answering phones, and ensuring patient comfort while waiting.Essential Functions:
1. Provides outstanding customer service to all patients and members of the public, greets patients and keeps them comfortable during visit. 2. Uses EMR system to check patients in and out quickly and efficiently 3. Process payments for co-pays and uninsured patients using the EMR system. 4. Effectively utilizes our EMR system to update patient records and create detailed notes as needed to assist other departments such as nursing and billing 5. Conducts detailed review of all insurance cards to insure we have the correct cards in the system and effectively communicates with patients so that patients understand what will be covered. 6. Works with nursing staff to check-in telehealth appointments. 7. Checks out patients as they leave ensuring follow up appointments are scheduled appropriately and recalls are created as necessary. 8. Answers incoming calls and routes patients to the appropriate party as needed. 9. Schedules patient appointments using the EMR 10. Maintains EMR data base by updating all patient information and routinely checks obituaries in local newspapers and changes the patient's status accordingly. 11. Scans patient documents into the corresponding patient file. 12. Keeps work area organized and clean. 13. Sanitizes all touch points throughout the day and sanitizes entire lobby at lunch and at the end of shift. 14. Helps to maintain the lobby area, keeping it clean and inviting though out the day. This may include but is not limited to wiping down counters, assisting with the fish tank, watering plants, vacuuming, sweeping, and attending to the public restrooms. 15. Proactively supports other team members and offers assistance as time allows, always staying busy and upbeat. 16. Efficiently addresses tasks, quickly moving from one task to the next. 17. Demonstrates knowledge of, and supports, Cleaver Dermatology standards, policies and procedures, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior. 18. Provides outstanding customer service. 19. Maintains a professional and courteous demeanor with all coworkers to ensure a harmonious work environment. Kind and Courteous This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have the ability to travel independently throughout the practice to access information from other departments. Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Business hours are Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The front desk staff will work staggered schedules of 7:30 a.m. to 430 p.m. 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p. m Monday through Thursday with later days on travel days to include the commute from the travel clinic back to the office. There may be times the front desk will be asked to go home early if all job duties have been completed or likewise, stay late if there is a need. This will be at the supervisor's discretion and based upon the schedule. Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the "core" work hours 32 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Travel Our staff do travel to outreach clinic sites at least twice per week. All staff are expected to share this responsibility equally and as a team. This is a requirement of the position.
