Job Description

Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Receptionist/Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient appointments, ensuring efficient scheduling, and maintaining accurate records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. This position requires proficiency in health information management systems and a strong understanding of health insurance policies. Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply, as effective communication with diverse patient populations is essential. Duties Schedule and confirm patient appointments using electronic medical record systems such as ModMed (Modernizing Medicine) and Meditech. Maintain accurate patient records and ensure all information is up-to-date and compliant with HIPAA standards. Communicate effectively with patients regarding appointment details, including cancellations or rescheduling. Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize scheduling efficiency and improve patient flow within the office. Utilize computerized systems to manage patient data, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy at all times. Provide support in managing office tasks related to patient scheduling and health information management. Verifying, understanding, and communicating a multitude of different health insurance policies and their individual requirements. Requirements Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems such as ModMed (Modernizing Medicine) and Meditech is preferred. Strong knowledge of health information management principles, including HIPAA compliance and medical coding practices. Management skills of patient medical records. Strong understanding of health insurance, especially North Carolina Medicaid and the associated policies, and multiple types of Tricare. Excellent typing skills and familiarity with office software applications. Bilingual abilities are a plus, enhancing communication with a diverse patient base. Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare setting-specifically Obstetrics and Gynecology is highly desirable but not mandatory. Demands a patient, adaptable, and collaborative approach to engage with our staff and patients alike, in a busy office that cares for a high volume of patients each day.
