Job Description

Medical Front Desk Specialist Lincoln Family Medical Group is committed to family medical care for the whole person, including mind, body and spirit. We are currently seeking a full-time Medical Front Desk Specialist. We are looking for a detail oriented, team player who enjoys multi-tasking and taking initiative. This position plays a critical role in the facilitation of teamwork, communication, and positive office environment for providers, co-workers, and patients. As with any Front Desk position, interaction with others is constant and interruptive. Work requires a positive approach to multiple assignments that require attention to detail, critical thinking and problem solving.
Responsibilities include:
Welcomes and greets all patients and visitors. Answering phone calls promptly. Determines the purpose of visit or phone call and directs as needed. Responds to routine requests for information. Check patients in, verify and obtain the necessary demographic, insurance and financial information. Collect applicable copayments and co-insurance. Works directly with billing department on patient balances due. Ensures all demographic and billing information is up to date at each visit. Manages patient flow to reduce patient wait time. Schedules appointments to optimize patient satisfaction, provider time according to practice guidelines for office visits and procedures. Requests information to obtain medical records for any new patient scheduled. Checks insurance eligibility and communicates possible patient responsibility to patients. Obtains necessary signatures on patient paperwork. Ensures that all demographics and insurance is accurate and up to date at every visit. Maintains confidentiality of all information in accordance with HIPAA Checks patient out from their appointment, ensuring proper scheduling of any follow up appointments. Reconciles schedule to make sure all is correct at the end of day. Makes certain that all end of the day tasks are completed, prepares front desk for the following day. Confirming that all money is balanced and creates bank deposit for drop-off. All other duties assigned.
Requirements include:
1+ years of medical front desk experience. High School diploma or equivalent. Excellent phone and in-person customer service skills. Ability to work independently. Adapting to rotation of five stations at the front desk. Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed. Understanding of medical terminology is necessary. Hours are full-time M-F daytime hours.
