Family-oriented eye care practice in Concord, New Hampshire looking for a
FULL TIME
Optometric Technician / Medical Receptionist. We offer our patients a full range of optometric services and are a primary eyecare practice. Our clinical staff play a large role in patient care. Previous experience in an Optometry /Ophthalmology / Medical office is desired but willing to train on the job. Our office uses the medical record company named Eyefinity EHR (also known as Modernizing Medicine "EMA") and Eyefinity Encompass. Eyecare Technician /
Medical Receptionist Job Duties and Responsibilities:
People depend on their eyes, so Technicians/Medical Receptionists must be committed to detail on a daily basis to assist patients. Administrative Tasks Operations necessary to office flow will be preformed by the staff. Responsibilities include greeting patients, answering phones, scheduling appointments, inputting data into computer files, collecting payments, verifying insurance coverage, sales of prescribed contact lenses/eyecare products, and maintaining the cleanliness of the office. Keeping office stocked with supplies and clean for patient care.
Billing Responsibilities:
Checking patients in and out of the office Ensuring the patient's medical information is accurate and up to date Verifying insurance coverage: Vision & Medical Preparing electronic bills and invoices Collecting and reviewing referrals and pre-authorizations Monitoring and recording payments Helping patients develop patient payment plans with Care Credit Interpersonal skills We are a part of a team and all employees must work seamlessly with other employees and doctors to effectively take care of our patients. Strong customer service skills are required of the employee in order for patients to feel comfortable and have a positive experience at the facility. Prepare Exam Rooms Prior to the doctor examining the next patient, the staff get the examination area ready. Actions may include turning on/off computers/machines, repositioning machines, disinfecting equipment, cleaning exam rooms, stocking exam rooms, and setting up the patient medical record.
Optometric Tests:
This position can require working directly with patients and preforming various eye tests, medical history, and electronic patient record keeping. Staff will be asked to preform some basic pretests before the patient sees the doctor. Staff will also assist in testing/procedures such as Visual Field, OCT, Optomap, color vision testing, IOP, and dry eye procedures.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to be on feet walking patients around office, must be able to interact with patients/staff verbally on a daily basis, and must be able to work at seated desk when not actively with patients.
Reliability Requirements:
Must be able to work required schedule, arrive on time, and complete daily opening/closing procedures along with other staff members.
Job Specifications:
Hours of business operation of the office is 8:30am-6pm Mon-Fri. Open till 6:30pm Thur. Open 8:30-1pm Sat. Closed Sun. Hours of work will be approximately 40 hours per week +/-. Employees have a biweekly rotational schedule. 4 days during the week, have 1 full day off during the week, and work every other Saturday morning. Training will be provided until employees can preform tasks by themselves without assistance. Ongoing training and education always available. Questions are always welcome to improve skills or optometric knowledge. Total compensation package will be determined based on experience and skill level.
