Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and organized Dental Receptionist to join our vibrant dental team! In this essential role, you will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative and clinical support tasks. Your energetic approach will help create a welcoming environment, ensuring smooth clinic operations and fostering positive patient experiences. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy, and passionate about delivering top-tier service in a fast-paced dental setting. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression upon arrival. Manage patient check-in and check-out processes efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification using systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or other EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems. Schedule appointments accurately, coordinate treatment plans, and manage the clinic's calendar to optimize patient flow. Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette; answer inquiries promptly and direct calls appropriately. Collect payments, process medical collections, and perform billing tasks utilizing medical billing software with knowledge of CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and HIPAA compliance standards. Maintain accurate and organized medical records, including filing documents and reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy. Assist with intake procedures, including patient registration and updating personal information in compliance with health information management protocols. Verify insurance benefits related to Medicare or other providers to ensure proper coverage for dental procedures when applicable. Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry, typing (including 10-key typing), and maintaining office supplies. Collaborate with dental staff to ensure proper documentation review of care plans and treatment notes. Utilize dental-specific software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft for scheduling, charting, and managing patient records efficiently. Uphold confidentiality standards in accordance with HIPAA regulations; safeguard patient information diligently. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient concerns promptly and professionally while maintaining a friendly demeanor. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or Dental Receptionist in a clinical setting; clinic or dental office experience highly preferred. Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, Meditech, Epic, or Athenahealth. Familiarity with medical coding (CPT, ICD-9/10), billing procedures, insurance verification processes including Medicare where applicable. Excellent computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; capable of handling multi-line phone systems and typing accurately at 10-key speed. Knowledge of dental terminology and medical terminology relevant to dental care is highly desirable. Ability to navigate HIPAA regulations confidently while managing sensitive patient information. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail; capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
