Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Front Desk Dental Insurance Coordinator who understands that insurance coordination, scheduling, and collections are critical to both patient care and the financial health of the practice. This is a high-responsibility role for a seasoned dental professional who works independently, follows through without reminders, and takes ownership of results. Accuracy, timeliness, and consistency are expected. This is not an entry-level position. This role directly supports patient care, scheduling efficiency, and timely insurance reimbursement. We are seeking someone who takes pride in doing things correctly and understands the impact their role has on the practice as a whole.
Pay range:
Competitive and based on experience. Key Responsibilities Provide professional, welcoming front desk support to all patients Manage scheduling, confirmations, and efficient appointment flow Answer multi-line phones with confidence and strong customer service Verify Dental PPO insurance benefits accurately and in advance. Medicaid insurance for pediatric patients only Contact insurance companies for detailed benefit breakdowns Submit and follow up on pre-determinations and insurance claims Track, follow up on, and resolve unpaid or denied claims in a timely manner Review treatment plans and clearly explain insurance coverage and patient financial responsibility Inform patients of estimated co payments and balances prior to the appointment Collect patient payments at the time of service Maintain accurate patient and insurance records in dental software Ensure full compliance with HIPAA and office policies Support daily office operations as assigned as needed Required Experience & Skills Minimum of 5 years of dental office experience (required) Strong working knowledge of Dental PPO insurance plans Experience with Medicaid (pediatric dentistry) Proficiency with Open Dental Solid understanding of dental terminology and CDT codes Proven ability to manage insurance processes independently Comfortable discussing finances in a clear, respectful, and professional manner Organized, detail-oriented, and dependable Strong communication and problem-solving skills Computer proficiency including data entry and Microsoft Office Ability to maintain confidentiality and accuracy under HIPAA guidelines Bilingual skills are a plus Submit and follow up on pre-determinations and insurance claims Track and resolve unpaid or denied claims in a timely manner Review treatment plans and clearly explain insurance coverage and patient responsibility
