Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while managing a variety of administrative tasks. Your energetic approach and excellent organizational skills will help streamline daily operations, support patient care, and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly, verify their appointment details, and assist with check-in and check-out procedures using Electronic Health Record (EHR) system such as Athenahealth. Schedule appointments efficiently while managing multiple-line phone systems with professionalism and courtesy. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process claims using medical billing and coding knowledge including
CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10
codes, Medicare, and HIPAA compliance standards. Collect patient information accurately through intake forms and update medical records in compliance with health information management protocols. Assist with medical documentation review, ensure proper coding for billing purposes, and support care plan documentation. Maintain organized filing systems for medical records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Support clinic operations by managing medical office supplies, handling correspondence, and performing clerical duties such as data entry with high typing speed (10 key typing) and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9 & ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing processes. Experience working with EMR systems such as Athenahealth is highly preferred. Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and the ability to handle multi-line phone systems confidently. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively communicate with diverse patient populations. Proven medical office experience including front desk duties, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and medical administrative support. Familiarity with health information management practices including filing, documentation review, and record keeping standards. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy is maintained at all times. Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining attention to detail in medical records management and billing procedures.
