The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical billing and coding, with expertise in mental health billing, CPT coding, and ICD-10 systems. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate billing processes and maintaining the integrity of medical records. The receptionist will work closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate smooth billing operations. Will also be utilized to answer phone calls and setup charts for patients. Responsibilities Process and submit medical billing claims to commercial insurance companies and government payers. Check for insurance coverage/benefits. Review any outstanding bills, credit card denials and send invoices to collect payments. Review patient records for accuracy and completeness of information. Utilize EMR and EHR systems to manage patient data effectively. Ensure compliance with medical coding standards including ICD-10 and CPT coding. Conduct follow-ups on unpaid claims and manage medical collections as necessary. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology and coding practices. Collaborate with the medical office team to ensure efficient workflow and resolution of billing issues. Follow up on claim denials, scrubs and inactive insurance. Have an understanding of mental health billing, insurance and coding. Have an understanding of insurance credentialing in regards to mental health. Be able to have good communication skills when patients have questions regarding insurance coverage and billing issues. Requirements Proven experience in medical billing, coding, or related roles within a medical office setting. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems is essential. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and coding guidelines (ICD coding). Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and insurance representatives. Proficient in using computer software for billing processes.
