About the
Role:
The Medical Receptionist 1 serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors within a healthcare setting, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience. This role is critical in managing patient flow by scheduling appointments, verifying patient information, and coordinating communication between patients and medical staff. The receptionist is responsible for maintaining accurate records, handling sensitive patient data with confidentiality, and facilitating smooth administrative operations. By effectively managing front desk activities, the Medical Receptionist 1 supports the overall efficiency and quality of care provided by the healthcare facility. This position requires strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail to contribute positively to patient satisfaction and clinic workflow.Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a medical office or healthcare environment preferred but not required. Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and electronic health record (EHR) systems. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.Preferred Qualifications:
Certification as a Medical Receptionist or Medical Administrative Assistant. Experience with specific EHR software such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech. Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare billing procedures. Bilingual abilities, especially in Spanish or other commonly spoken languages in the community. Training in HIPAA compliance and patient privacy regulations.Responsibilities:
Greet and check in patients upon arrival, verifying personal and insurance information accurately. Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems. Answer incoming phone calls promptly, addressing inquiries or directing calls to appropriate medical personnel. Maintain patient records and documentation in compliance with privacy regulations such as HIPAA. Collect co-payments and process billing information as required. Coordinate communication between patients, healthcare providers, and administrative staff to ensure seamless service delivery. Manage waiting area to ensure a comfortable environment for patients and visitors. Assist with administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, and preparing patient charts.Skills:
