Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This vital role serves as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while managing essential administrative functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a thorough understanding of medical terminology and billing procedures. Your energetic approach will help streamline clinic operations, enhance patient experience, and support the overall efficiency of our healthcare services. Duties Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional patient service and addressing inquiries with professionalism Schedule appointments using medical scheduling software such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth, ensuring optimal clinic flow Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification to facilitate smooth billing processes Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures accurately, updating electronic health records (EHR systems) like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix Collect and process payments, including copays and outstanding balances, utilizing medical billing and collection procedures Review documentation for accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and proper coding using
CPT, ICD-10, ICD-9
codes for medical procedures and diagnoses Maintain organized medical records, files, and documentation review to support efficient office operations Answer multi-line phone systems promptly with excellent phone etiquette; handle appointment rescheduling or cancellations as needed Support medical administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and managing front desk responsibilities in a fast-paced clinic environment Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate patient care plans and coordinate intake processes Experience Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting is required, preferably within clinics or dental offices Proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Eaglesoft is essential Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing practices Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other third-party payers Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with dental practice management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is a plus Excellent customer service skills paired with professional phone etiquette in a busy front desk environment Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively Previous clinic or hospital experience that includes handling medical records, documentation review, and health information management will be advantageous Join us to be part of a dedicated team committed to delivering exceptional healthcare experiences!
