Job Title:
Medical Records Clerk / Receptionist Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Records Clerk to join our healthcare team. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate and complete patient medical records while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. In addition to medical records duties, this position will provide coverage at the receptionist desk, serving as a key point of contact for residents, families, visitors, and staff. The ideal candidate is adaptable, and professional. Key Responsibilities Retrieve, review, assemble, and file medical records in accordance with regulatory requirements Maintain accurate filing systems (alphabetical and chronological) Monitor records for completeness and report discrepancies to the Director of Nursing File loose documentation into patient charts as needed Conduct routine audits of filing systems for accuracy Follow policies for record retention, storage, and destruction Assist with purging and organizing medical records Provide reception desk coverage, including greeting visitors, answering phones, and directing inquiries Perform unit clerk duties on a PRN basis as needed Respond to call bells as appropriate Assist in staffing emergencies, including Nursing Assistant duties (if CNA certified) Maintain strict confidentiality of all resident and employee information Comply with all company policies, ethical standards, and regulatory requirements Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required Computer proficiency and ability to learn multiple software systems Strong communication skills (written and verbal) Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities Healthcare experience preferred Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare procedures is a plus Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact tactfully with residents, families, staff, and visitors Physical Requirements Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and repetitive motions (typing, writing) Visual and hearing ability sufficient for communication and documentation tasks Work Environment Indoor and outdoor exposure depending on role needs Temperature ranges from 65-80°F indoors (varies by department) Exposure to standard healthcare environment conditions Why Join Us?
