Job Category Healthcare Overview Description Description:
The OB Patient Screener provides clinical and patient care assistance under the direction of a Licensed Nurse Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Included but not limited to the following); Obtains and records initial and ongoing patient information throughout the cycle of care, including admissions data, vital signs, height and weight, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, intake and output, calorie counts, and other patient information as directed by Licensed Nurse Coordinator Prepares rooms for patient admissions assuring that the room is clean and proper equipment is set up for patient's needs Ensures an adequate stock of all necessary equipment and supplies in designated areas Utilizes the electronic medical record as required for patient care Ensures a clean and safe patient care environment Courteously and professionally covers patient care unit front desk as needed for back-up. This includes promptly answering telephones, greeting patients, sending reports, entering orders, managing medical record, etc. Other duties that are assigned
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Must be computer literate and be able to operate Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel. Must possess good knowledge of office practices. • Customer service oriented, organized, and diligent. Knowledge of medical terminology Demonstrates problem solving skills Ability to work effectively and consistently with limited direct supervision Ability to communicate well with staff, physicians and general public Exhibits commitment to effective problem-solving techniques when issues arise Good organizational and strong communication skills with the ability to interact with a variety of persons Understanding, courteous, and professional at all times in contacts with patients, visitors, employees, and medical staff Dependable/ must have flexible work schedule Neat and friendly appearance Ability to speak Spanish (preferred)
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma or equivalent Current CMA or RMA preferred Must be CPR Certified 1-3 years of experience in a medical office or health care setting environment preferred
