Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming environment while managing a wide range of administrative and clinical support tasks. Your energetic approach will help facilitate smooth clinic operations, coordinate patient appointments, verify insurance information, and maintain accurate medical records. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care through exceptional front desk management and administrative excellence. Responsibilities Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing excellent customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures. Schedule patient appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and process pre-authorizations for procedures. Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, ensuring clear communication and prompt response to inquiries. Maintain accurate medical records by updating patient information, reviewing documentation, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with medical billing and collection processes, including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare claims submissions. Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, and preparing documentation review for care plans or medical records requests. Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office support role within clinics or healthcare settings. Strong knowledge of EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, or Athenahealth; familiarity with Eaglesoft or Dentrix is a plus. Excellent understanding of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), and insurance verification processes. Ability to handle sensitive patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines with high attention to detail. Bilingual skills are preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and typing accuracy (10-key typing). Outstanding phone etiquette combined with strong organizational skills to manage scheduling and front desk operations efficiently. Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable; familiarity with dental terminology and dental office management software like Dentrix or Eaglesoft is advantageous.
