Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing administrative tasks efficiently. This role requires strong knowledge of medical office procedures, EMR systems, and healthcare documentation to ensure smooth clinic operations and compliance with healthcare regulations. Experience in medical clinics, along with proficiency in various EMR platforms, is highly valued. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and manage patient check-in and check-out processes Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and multi-line phone systems Collect payments and including medical collection activities Maintain and update patient records in Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while ensuring HIPAA compliance Review documentation for accuracy and completeness, including CPT coding, ICD-9/ICD-10 codes, and care plans Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating medical histories Manage phone etiquette professionally across multi-line phone systems to handle inquiries and appointment confirmations File and organize medical records efficiently in accordance with health information management standards Support office management tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and document review Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations related to HIPAA and other privacy standards Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate smooth clinic operations Skills Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other insurance providers Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities preferred Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software Ability to handle administrative support tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail for documentation review and accuracy in record keeping Previous experience in a clinic or medical office setting is highly desirable Ability to maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations This role offers an engaging environment where organizational skills and healthcare knowledge are essential for success.
