Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Receptionist/Clinic Staff Member who can work flexible hours. The hours may vary day to day; however, the average is 30 hours per week. The candidate will switch roles between front and back of clinic. Ideally, we would prefer someone with medical experience, such as a medical assistant certification, who could if needed assist the physician. This person will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional service while managing various administrative tasks. He or she will play a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations within the medical office, contributing to a positive patient experience. Duties Greet patients warmly and assist them with check-in and check-out processes. Answer phone calls promptly, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette while addressing patient inquiries and scheduling appointments. Maintain accurate medical records, ensuring all patient information is up-to-date and compliant with privacy regulations. Utilize Athena software for managing patient information and scheduling. Perform medical coding tasks as needed, ensuring accurate billing and coding practices are followed. Handle medical collections efficiently, addressing any billing inquiries from patients. Organize and file documents systematically to maintain an orderly office environment. Obtain insurance authorizations for referrals Collaborate with other staff members to support overall office operations and enhance patient care. If needed perform basic medical procedures and assist healthcare professionals in providing patient care. If needed take and record vital signs, such as blood pressure, temperature, and pulse. Prepare patients for examinations and procedures by explaining the process and ensuring their comfort. Collect patient medical history and update electronic health records. Experience Previous experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar role is preferred. If person holds medical experience it is a plus. Familiarity with medical records management and coding systems is advantageous. Proficiency in using electronic health record (EHR) systems, particularly Athena, is highly desirable. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail to manage multiple tasks effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact professionally with patients and healthcare providers. A background in medical collections or billing can be beneficial but is not required.
