Job Description
Seeking an energetic & experienced
REFERRAL COORDINATOR
to join our established medical practice team!MUST HAVE MEDICAL OFFICE REFERRAL EXPERIENCE.
Position Summary:
Responsible for receiving, processing, scheduling and following up on all medical referral requests, including in-house and outside referrals for diagnostic testing, medical specialists, or other providers.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following information is intended to be representative of the essential functions performed by incumbents in this position and is not all-inclusive. 1. Makes patient care referrals to outside agencies according to clinic policies, procedures and responsibilities. 2. Documents all referrals and forwards referral documents to appropriate personnel / department. 3. Follows up the referrals in a timely manner to assure that appointments are made for appropriate care or testing. 4. Answers patient inquiries and takes messages for follow up. 5. Assists providers in completing all medical documentation needed to provide referral services. 6. Participates in staff meetings and other meetings as instructed. 7. Maintains confidentiality within the workplace and within the community. 8. Handles protected health information in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). 9. Obtains prior authorizations for referrals as needed.Position Requirements:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; Minimum one year referral experience Minimum two years related medical office experience and/ or equivalent combination of education and experience.Job Type:
