Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist, where your energetic and organized approach will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. In this vital role, you will manage front desk operations, coordinate patient appointments, and ensure seamless communication between patients and medical staff. Your proactive attitude and attention to detail will help create a welcoming environment while supporting efficient clinic workflows. Duties Greet patients and visitors with professionalism, warmth, and excellent phone etiquette to foster a positive first impression. Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing processes including medical collection tasks. Manage patient check-in and check-out procedures, ensuring all documentation is reviewed and completed correctly. Maintain accurate medical records by filing, updating, and retrieving patient files in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Assist with medical administrative support tasks such as data entry, documentation review, and managing multi-line phone systems. Support clinical staff by coordinating care plans, scheduling follow-up appointments, and handling intake procedures efficiently. Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing practices. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft for documentation and scheduling. Experience with insurance verification processes for Medicare and other insurance providers. Excellent computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) and familiarity with health information management software. Bilingual abilities are a plus to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Prior clinic or dental office experience is highly desirable to understand healthcare workflows. Exceptional customer service skills combined with strong organizational abilities to handle clerical tasks like filing and data entry efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA compliance standards to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality at all times.
