In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, ensuring a welcoming and efficient front desk experience. Your expertise in medical administrative support, familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, and knowledge of medical terminology will contribute to smooth clinic operations. Duties Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional patient service and maintaining professional phone etiquette across multi-line phone systems. Manage appointment scheduling using EMR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, or Eaglesoft, ensuring accurate and timely clinic flow. Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification procedures to facilitate smooth billing processes. Collect payments and perform medical collections efficiently while adhering to HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality. Prepare and review medical documentation, including care plans, CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and review documentation for accuracy and completeness. Maintain accurate medical records by filing, updating electronic health records (EHR), and managing medical office files with precision. Assist with medical billing processes by coding procedures accurately using ICD coding standards and supporting Medicare or other insurance claims submissions. Support clinic operations by managing patient intake forms, scheduling follow-up appointments, and coordinating with providers for efficient clinic management. Utilize computer skills to operate various EHR systems such as Meditech, Epic, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks effectively for documentation review and data entry. Conduct office management tasks including filing, data entry (10 key typing), and maintaining organized medical records in compliance with HIPAA standards. Provide excellent customer service by addressing patient inquiries professionally and ensuring a positive experience at the front desk. Assist with health information management tasks related to dental or hospital settings if applicable. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Receptionist or in a similar medical office administrative role with clinic experience preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, and medical billing procedures. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix or Eaglesoft is highly desirable. Ability to verify insurance benefits accurately and handle collections professionally while maintaining HIPAA compliance. Excellent communication skills with proficiency in phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are a plus. Demonstrated clerical skills including filing, data entry (10 key typing), document review, and office management tasks. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) for documentation purposes. Knowledge of dental terminology or hospital experience is advantageous but not required. Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Prior experience working with multi-line phone systems and managing front desk operations is preferred.
