Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Medical Receptionist specializing in Spanish-speaking patient interactions! In this vital role, you will be the friendly face and efficient communicator at the front desk, ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience for our diverse patient community. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will help coordinate appointments, manage medical records, and facilitate seamless communication between patients and medical staff. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to quality patient care while honing your administrative and medical support skills in a fast-paced environment. You are required to do in Alexandria and Woodbridge both Locations. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly in Spanish and English, providing exceptional customer service at the front desk. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and handle insurance verification processes accurately. Schedule appointments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks, ensuring efficient clinic flow. Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, directing calls appropriately and taking detailed messages. Maintain and update patient records in various EHR systems, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards. Assist with documentation review, medical coding (ICD-10, CPT), and billing processes related to Medicare and other insurance plans. Support administrative tasks such as filing medical records, managing clinic supplies, and coordinating care plans with healthcare providers. Utilize computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite for data entry, report generation, and communication tasks. Handle intake procedures for new patients, including collecting medical history and verifying insurance information. Ensure accuracy in medical documentation review and facilitate smooth front desk operations to enhance patient satisfaction. Experience Previous clinic or medical office experience is highly preferred, especially in a busy healthcare setting such as dental clinics or hospitals. Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English is essential for effective communication with diverse patient populations. Familiarity with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or Dentrix is required; experience with Eaglesoft or similar dental practice management software is a plus. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures is necessary to support accurate documentation and reimbursement processes. Strong clerical skills including filing, data entry (10 key typing), appointment scheduling, and multi-line phone operation are vital. Excellent customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette will ensure positive patient interactions. Ability to handle sensitive health information following HIPAA guidelines while maintaining confidentiality at all times. Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office applications along with familiarity with health information management software enhances efficiency in daily tasks.
