POSITION SPECIFICS

Unit Secretary - Acute Care (part-time days)

.6 FTE (48 hours per pay period)
Schedule :
12-hour day shifts, 5:45 AM - 6:15
PM Holiday Rotation:
Every third
Weekend Rotation:
Every third
On Call Requirements:

POSITION SUMMARY
Unit Secretaries perform administrative and clerical duties for Acute Care and ICU in order to maintain standards of care, move patient flow forward, and keep departments running smoothly. Unit Secretaries in these departments must work closely and in collaboration with other clinical departments in the hospital.
POSITION TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Admit, transfer and discharge patients via the electronic medical record. Manage daily patient call system and update nursing phone assignments. Schedule follow up appointments for patients including tests, checkups, etc. Prepare and maintain charts and patient documents per department requirements. Perform general clerical duties including filing, copying, labeling, faxing, etc. Orders Acute Care and ICU supplies as directed. Request records as needed from SPH Healthcare and external medical providers. Perform data collection as requested. Troubleshoot house-wide alarms and follow emergency procedures as per policy. Assists in maintaining safe environment Assists with other duties as assigned.
