Full Job Description Job Title:
Medical Scribe — Surgical Clinic (Outpatient/Office) Position Summary Assist surgeons and clinic providers by accurately documenting patient encounters, managing clinical paperwork, and supporting efficient office-based surgical workflows. The Medical Scribe ensures the creation of complete, timely, and organized medical records in a fast-paced surgical outpatient setting. Key Responsibilities Real-time documentation of the history of present illness, review of systems, physical exam findings, assessment, and plan into the electronic health record (EHR) during provider-patient encounters. Accurately record preop and postop notes, procedure documentation for minor in-office procedures, informed consent summaries, and follow-up instructions. Enter medication lists, allergies, immunizations, and problem lists; update social and family history as directed by providers. Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and clinic regulatory requirements. Support clinic efficiency by coordinating with nurses, medical assistants, front desk staff, and surgical schedulers. Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred. Previous experience as a medical scribe or strong medical transcription/medical documentation experience; experience in surgical or specialty clinics preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and common surgical procedures. Proficiency with electronic health record systems; ability to type quickly and accurately. Strong attention to detail, excellent written communication skills, and ability to multitask in real time
