Iowa Orthopedic Center is actively seeking a Physician Extender (Scribe) to support orthopedic providers in delivering high-quality patient care. This role involves assisting with clinical procedures, patient education, documentation, and clinic operations to ensure a smooth and efficient workflow. Present relevant patient information to the provider, including diagnostic studies, past medical records, recent treatments, and subjective complaints. Collaborate with the provider to discuss and diagnose orthopedic conditions. Room patients and obtain thorough intake information and medical histories. Assist providers with in-office procedures. Document patient office visits accurately in the EMR system. Educate patients on treatment plans, rehabilitation exercises, and related materials. Fit and instruct patients on durable medical equipment and apply casts/splints. Prepare injection and procedure trays, including drawing up medications as directed. Send diagnostic and therapy orders as well as prescription medications under the provider's direction. Ensure clinic operations are efficient, maintaining a steady patient flow. Communicate effectively with other departments to facilitate seamless patient care. Assist with administrative or clinical projects as assigned.Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent. Strong knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Experience in a clinical or orthopedic setting. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
