Technical Proficiency Full Job Description Medical Transcription Duties:
Transcribe dictated audio recordings from physicians into accurate medical reports. Review, edit, and format electronic health records (EHR) generated by speech recognition software. Identify and clarify inconsistencies, errors, or missing information in clinical dictations. Adhere strictly to institutional data security protocols and national health privacy acts.
Medical Billing Duties:
Translate clinical documentation into standardized diagnostic and procedural medical codes.
General Office Duties:
Provide customer service to clients, patients and the laboratory. Prepare and mail out slides and blocks. Properly identify samples and sites where specimens are obtained. Handle and perform accurate accession of patient, testing and specimen into laboratory information system (MAC based) and trouble shooting. Accurate labeling of specimens. Prepare and send out specimens.
Required Skills & Qualifications Technical Skills:
Expertise in ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding systems.
Transcription:
Minimum typing speed of [e.g., 65-70] WPM with a 99% accuracy rate.
Software Proficiency:
Hands-on experience operating major EHR/EMR Systems and medical billing platforms.
Medical Knowledge:
Advanced understanding of anatomy, physiology, and clinical terminology.
Compliance:
Comprehensive operational knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient data safety protocols.
Soft Skills:
Extreme attention to analytical detail, stellar time management, and polite phone etiquette. Education & Experience Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in healthcare administration preferred. Graduate of an accredited Medical Transcription or Medical Billing and Coding program preferred Minimum of [e.g., 2-3] years of active experience in clinical transcription or medical billing.
Preferred Certifications:
Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Professional Coder (CPC), or Registered Healthcare Documentation Specialist (RHDS). Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and additional duties may be assigned as needed.
