Medical Scribe Job Summary:
The Medical Scribe is responsible for the accurate real-time documentation of patient encounters for their assigned on-site physician. The Medical Scribe is also responsible for tracking lab and imaging orders and their results. The Medical Scribe must demonstrate a proficiency in typing and utilizing EHR.
Job Responsibilities/ Tasks:
Appropriately interact and communicate with medical staff, management and support staff to provide the best possible patient care Collaborate with physicians to deliver efficient patient care Compile and process orders for tests, procedures, and other treatments Maintain confidentiality of sensitive (HIPAA) patient information Recording/Transcribing patient (encounters) documentation in EHR, in real-time Retrieve and prepare patient records for physicians prior to appointments and procedures
Required Skills/Abilities:
Ability to proficiently utilize computers and other relevant technology Ability to appropriately communicate and interact with patients and physicians Ability to excel in a high volume, fast paced environment Ability to work efficiently as a team member with other staff members Ability to type at a quick pace (60 WPM) without errors Strong knowledge of HIPPA regulations Strong knowledge of basic medical terminology
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent Bachelor's Degree with pre-health career track
