Position Summary Atlas Surgery Center is seeking a full-time Medical Scribe / Clinical Support Assistan t to support our clinical operations team and assigned medical providers. This role is responsible for assisting with accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation within the electronic medical record system while also supporting chart preparation, documentation review, and clinical administrative workflows. The primary function of this position is to serve as a medical scribe during provider procedure days by documenting patient encounters, provider assessments, procedural notes, treatment plans, and related charting activity in real time. On non-provider clinic days, this role may assist with chart preparation, chart audits, EMR review, medical record organization, and other clinical support duties as assigned. Key Responsibilities Key responsibilities include but are not limited to: Accurately document patient encounters, provider assessments, treatment plans, procedural notes, and related clinical documentation in the EMR system. Transcribe provider-patient interactions in real time during clinic visits and procedure days. Assist with timely completion of provider documentation to support chart closure and continuity of care. Prepare and organize patient charts prior to clinic visits and procedures. Review charts for missing documentation, signatures, orders, consents, or other required information. Communicate documentation deficiencies to the appropriate provider, clinical staff, or administrative team member. Assist with EMR data entry, scanning, and medical record maintenance. Coordinate with providers and clinical staff to obtain necessary documentation, imaging results, laboratory information, or other patient information needed for complete records. Support efficient patient flow and provider workflow during clinical operations. Assist with chart audits, documentation review, and quality improvement activities related to documentation and medical records. Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA, facility policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. Support administrative and clerical workflows within the clinical department as needed. Assist with basic medical assistant or clinical support duties as needed and within scope of training and competency. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and workflow improvement initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Working knowledge of medical terminology required. Strong computer and EMR documentation skills required. Ability to accurately document information in a fast-paced clinical environment. Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities efficiently. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all patient interactions. Ability to work collaboratively with providers, clinical staff, and administrative personnel. Ability to adapt to changing workflows, provider needs, and operational priorities.
Licensure / Certifications
Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required. Medical Scribe certification preferred but not required. Current Basic Life Support certification preferred. Preferred Qualifications Prior experience in a medical office, outpatient clinic, ambulatory surgery center, or healthcare setting preferred. Previous medical scribe experience preferred. Experience with electronic medical records, clinical documentation, medical record maintenance, or chart review preferred. Experience supporting providers, clinical teams, or patient care workflows in a healthcare setting preferred. Knowledge of anatomy, clinical terminology, outpatient procedures, and documentation requirements preferred. Schedule / Work
Hours This is a full-time position. Shifts are typically scheduled during regular business hours and may vary based on provider schedules, procedure days, patient care needs, staffing, and business operations. Compensation The expected compensation range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00 per hour . Actual compensation will be determined based on relevant experience, education, qualifications, licensure/certification, skills, and internal equity. This range represents Atlas Surgery Center's good-faith estimate of the expected compensation for this position at the time of posting, in accordance with New York State pay transparency requirements. This position requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and computer use. This role requires prolonged periods of computer and EMR documentation work, close visual attention, and repetitive hand movement for typing and data entry. The employee must be able to communicate effectively with providers, clinical staff, administrative staff, and other members of the care team. The employee may occasionally lift, carry, or move office supplies, charts, medical records, or related materials. This role may involve exposure to patient care areas, confidential patient information, clinical workflows, medical equipment, and standard healthcare environment conditions.
